Blog 28/365 Marketing Meets Awesome Album Covers!

So I was thinking today...haha (I know, dangerous eh:-)

Anyways, how creative were the marketing minds that came up with the Album Cover idea?
I am pretty sure that yesterday's activity was intended to drive traffic to the site www.picnik.com....but what did they really do?

~ Create an activity that entertains the masses and watch it spread virally

Got an idea? Could you make it happen? Curious...would you use picnik again?

Make it a great day...dance time:-)

Blog 27/365 My Band's first Album!

The other day a friend of mine posted an activity on her Facebook wall that was so much fun, I decided to feature a blog post on it. Come on, I had to...MY BAND'S NAME WAS OYSTER BORER! haha (I am seriously laughing while writing this:-)

The activity is simply a series of steps to create an album cover.
If you follow them...
1. you are guaranteed a laugh!
2. Just maybe your first album cover will turn out as sweet as Oyster Borer's Happening to Somebody Else album:-)
!

Create Your Band's Album

Step 1. Go to Wikipedia and hit Random Article. The first Random Article you get is your Band's name.
Step 2. Go to QuotationsPage and again hit Random. The last 4 or 5 words of the last quote make up your album name.
Step 3. Go to Flicker and hit The Last Seven Days at the bottom of the page. The 3rd picture to come up is your picture no ifs ands or buts!
Step 4. Use PicNik to put it all together
Step 5. Post picture to FB, tag the people you want in your band, and put this link for instructions ~ http://suchielove.blogspot.com/2011/01/blog-27365-my-bands-first-album.html
Step 6. E-mail Suchie your Album cover! ~ SuchieLove@gmail.com

Blog 26/365 TTT ~ Surprise Surprise!!!

Hello Think Tank Thursday!!! TTT = LOVE IT!

I had planed to focus today's Think Tank Thursday around a simple question...

~ When was the last time you put yourself out there?

As many of you already know, earlier this month I put myself out there. I applied to write a guest blog series for a women's website...and I was accepted! I asked, and WOW did I ever receive!

Last Sunday I submitted the content...it was received amazingly well...and yesterday was supposed to be the release date. I rose with a little extra excitement, absolutely ready to read:-) However, what did I read? It was not my release...it was an e-mail stating that there was a health issue and the series is to be delayed...SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!

The health issue turned out to a bump on a breast, no laughing matter. A biopsy has been preformed and we are now waiting for the results. Please send Erica Diamond some positive vibes. To read more about Erica's health issue click -> WomenOnTheFence

As I said in a my application e-mail Me+Women's Blog = LOVE IT! "Money comes and money goes...but time only goes." Time is finite friends! You never know when you may have an unexpected visit to the doctor. We can Plan Plan Plan, but there will always be surprises! That's simply the beauty of life:-)

This brings us to our new Think Tank Thursday topic...

~ ARE you going to put yourself out there?

~ ARE you going to make the most out of your life?

Make it a great day and think about it:-)

Sending love,

Suchie

Opportunities await you...sometimes you just have to open the door! You may just be surprised:-)

Blog 25/365 What is The State of Your Union?

Regardless of the leader...Dictator or Democrat, Communists or Capitalists...I believe much can be learned through the observation of great orators. In fact I can frequently be found reading this book...

With that in mind, last night was one of the rare times you can catch me watching TV. I sat down, at home in Canada, and watched President Obama deliver The State of the Union Address.

President Obama reflected on successes and "bumps," proclaimed his dream for America, described current environmental and economic conditions, laid out his plan, and called people to action. As I watched the President I couldn't help but think...how frequently do we evaluate the state of our own unions?
Therefore I ask you today...

WHAT IS THE STATE OF YOUR UNION?!?

What are your recent successes?
What have you learned from your "bumps"?
What are your dreams?
Where are you?
What is your life's purpose and direction?
What is your plan to accomplish your goals?

It is far to easy to get caught up in today's "rat race" society. So I will ask again...

What is the state of your union?

Make it a great day!

Blog 24/365 Write It Down!

Have you ever experienced one of those euphoric moments of enterprise? The type of moment that makes you say...

Oooooo it would be amazing to do "that!"
I bet we could make a lot of money doing "this!"
Why don't we do "that?"
Lets start "this kind" of business!
We should open up a bar! (Every guy has at least thought that once!:-)

Well congruent with my childish curiosity, I am constantly coming up with new ideas as I observe our surroundings. I experience those "euphoric moments of enterprise" on a regular basis. So why don't I have many profitable businesses? What happens between the synapses firing in my brain creating the idea, and that same idea fading off into the abyss of the forgotten? Seriously...What is it?!?

I feel it ultimately boils down to desire. When you do not HAVE to do something...the only question to ask is: "How badly do I WANT to do this?" If you WANT to accomplish something bad enough, you will MAKE it happen!

This brings us to the core of today's message...if you don't want to be the person ridiculed on Dragon's Den... If you don't want to lose a life altering business idea to the abyss of the forgotten...and if you want to capitalized on the opportunities that surround us...

Write it down!

Ideas are in your head...Businesses are on paper!

Suchie Rule ~ When you have an idea...WRITE IT DOWN!

With this spirit in mind, and after dinner with Grandma, I spent an hour writing down an idea I had earlier today. I expanded on the rough notes I jotted down during the moment of discovery, and I plan on reviewing it... dissecting it... consulting on it...and ultimately making an educated decision regarding it's development.

Friends, it is our choice take advantage of the opportunities surrounding us. I say we do it! Lets work towards your goals/wants/and desires. Lets serve others. And lets truly develop a sustainable global future!

Make it a great day and write it down!

Blog 19/365 TTT ~ 12 YEARS OLD! KIDS GET IT!

It is Think Tank Thursday Time again...love it! :-)

I was not sure what to write about until I read the following speech from a 12 year old! Just imagine a 12 year old on stage in front of leaders from around the world...here is what she had to say:

"Hello, I'm Severn Suzuki, speaking for ECO - Environmental Children's Organization. We are a group of twelve-and thirteen-year-olds trying to make a difference: Vanessa Suttie, Morgan Geisler, Michelle Quigg and me. We raised all the money to come here five thousand miles to tell you adults you must change your ways. Coming up here today, I have no hidden agenda. I am fighting for my future. Losing my future is not like losing an election of a few points on the stock market. I am here to speak for all generations to come. I am here to speak on behalf of the starving children around the world whose cries go unheard. I am here to speak for the countless animals dying across this planet because they have nowhere left to go. I am afraid to go out in the sun now because of the holes in the ozone. I am afraid to breathe the air because I don't know what chemicals are in it. I used to go fishing in Vancouver, my home, with my dad until just a few years ago we found the fish full of cancers. And now we hear of animals and plants going extinct every day-vanishing forever. In my life, I have dreamt of seeing the great herds of wild animals, jungles and rain forests full of birds and butterflies, but now I wonder if they will even exist for my children to see. Did you have to worry about these things when you were my age? All this is happening before our eyes and yet we act as if we have all the time we want and all the solutions. I'm only a child and I don't have all the solutions, but I want you to realize, neither do you...You don't know how to bring the salmon back up a dead stream. You don't know how to bring back an animal now extinct. And you can't bring back the forest that once grew where there is now desert. If you don't know how to fix it, please stop breaking it!...
At school, even in kindergarten, you teach us how to behave in the world. You teach us: not to fight with others, to work things out, to respect others, to clean up our mess, not to hurt other creatures, to share - not be greedy. Then why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do? Do not forget why you're attending these conferences, who your doing this for - we are your own children. You are deciding what kind of world we are growing up in. Parents should be able to comfort their children by saying "everything's going to be all right," "it's not the end of the world," and "we're doing the best we can." But I don't think you can say that to us anymore. Are we even on your list of priorities?
My dad always says, "You are what you do, not what you say." Well, what you do makes me cry at night. You grown-ups say you love us, but I challenge you. Please make your actions reflect your words. Thank you."

What do you think about that?!?

Now get ready for the nauseating part...that speech is from 1992!!! We have been F^&%ing the dog for the last 20 years!!! So what's the answer?

Do you know how to bring salmon back up a dead stream?
Do you know how to bring back an extinct animal?
Do you know how to re-grow a forest that once grew where there is now a desert?

Sara I know that you want to give Nora the best future possible; well re-read what that 12 year old said in 1992!!! Idea's to come. Timmy you are the engineer and you hit the nail on the head when it comes to policy! (view Sara & Tim's comments from last week below)

It's ironic, as I write this I am listening to the song Little Lion Man and these lyrics just rolled:
"It was not your fault, but mine.
It was your heart on the line.
I really fucked it up this time!
Didn't I my dear!"

I want to sing a different song to future generations. The generations that will be most affected by our lack of environmental stewardship are being born today, and those yet to be born...Who will be their voice?

Maybe we will get lucky...maybe we can just continue the "status-quo?"
Hmmm...sigh....you already know the answer is no!

To build a sustainable future will take hard work and time...but it's an opportunity!

Be the change you want to see...right?

Well what change do we want to see in the future?

Make it a great day,

sending love always,

Stephen

"dude most of the world wants a sustainable development strategy, unfortunately while ancient technology (fossil fuel) is more cost effective and can produce large profits, greedy bastards who run these companies will still do it! Massive government subsidies are need to promote green technology and give it the financial insentives need for implementation (china actually does this with solar panels, but they've done it too such extremes that no other country in the world can compete with the prices they can offer, so everyone complains about it). Anyway sorry to rant but its a system that is so financially driven its hard to change. But everyone can do they're part. Energy efficiency in the home. Exercise and public transport over cars. Blog 18/365 It's Manifesto Time!

"Who are you?"

I will never forget the first time I was asked that question...in fact, I almost laughed! It was an abrupt encounter as I recall...She walked up to me and said: "Excuse me, who are you?" I pondered my response options for a moment...
I could go with:

1. To begin with, my name is Stephen.
2. The man of your dreams:-) (fyi - this immediately got X'd!)
3. Well that's kind of a loaded question isn't it?
4. Can you narrow that down a wee bit for me please?

I ended up going with option four and we had a rather delightful conversation. However, without knowing it...this women really threw me a doozy of a question. Or maybe she did know...hmmmm...I guess I am back to my eternal study of the female psyche:-)

So here is the question friends ~ Who are you?

If you only had a 2 minute elevator ride to tell the world who you are...what would you say? ~ What do you stand for? What do you believe in? Where does your passion breathe? What are you working towards? What do you want to be known for? When your name is mentioned...what do you others to say? What is the purpose of your life? WHO ARE YOU?!?
It is Manifesto Time!

Blog 17/365 Mission Health! Phase 1!

According to StatCanada 29% of Canadian Adolescents are overweight or obese!!! In the States, The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 17% of americans ages 2-19 are OBESE!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

Seriously!!! How disgusting are those numbers! It boggles my mind to think that there are starving children around the globe...while 1 in 4 children/adolescents in North America are either overweight or obese!!!

So what can we do?

Do you have any ideas? My best answer is to simply provide a good example of healthy living. Frequently, I find that action stems from increased awareness. So today we activate "Mission Health!"

Yes...MISSION HEALTH!!!

Now to avoid confusion, I figured I would visit my old friend Mr. Dictionary again...

Health
~ the state of being free of illness or injury
~ a person's mental or physical condition

Question - Do you exercise regularly? Better question...Do you exercise your mind, body, and spirit regularly? To me, "healthy living" encompasses physical, mental and spiritual elements. I passionately believe that their maintenance is crucial to living a healthy life!

Phase 1 of Mission Health ~ Growing our knowledge!

If you read yesterdays blog, you would have read my declaration...

"I LOVE FOOD AND LOVE TO COOK!"

What I failed to mention is that one of my personal missions is to live a healthy life. One reason I LOVE FOOD is because I love to fuel my body well. What we put in our bodies, directly correlates with our performance! You would not put crap fuel in a Ferrari...would you?

With fueling our bodies in mind...Lets talk about the "Cooking Corner"

I started the "Cooking Corner" yesterday with the intention of giving us a place to share healthy recipes...now I need recipes! :-) So give me what you got...Pictures...Videos...or simply Words. I will post it as long as it is healthy! Post it as a comment or e-mail me. (Suchielove@gmail.com) If you know of anyone who has good recipes or would be interested...share/e-mail them this post. Post this link on your Facebook wall...

Lets grow our knowledge so that we can live healthier lives...provide an example...and stimulate change!

Make it a great day!

January 15th ~ 3:23pm

The movies were ready...it was due to be dark in an hour and a half...snow was falling...the wind was howling...and quite frankly we were tired. Friends, we almost stayed in!

HOWEVER...instead of letting a lethargic attitude overcome us, we loaded the pups into the vehicle and drove to the nearest conservation area.

A walk, a talk, some laughs and a great picture or two later...I am so happy we got out there!

Remember that you only live once...so GET OUT THERE!

Blog 13/365 What's your plan?

What's your plan!?!

One of the most powerful "learning experiences" I will take out of 2010 is the need to plan!

By no means will you be able to anticipate everything but...
PLAN PLAN PLAN PLAN PLAN
There will be unanticipated surprises...but that's the beauty of life!

I am constantly saying...Grow Awareness -> Focus Thought -> Focus Action -> Achieve
Well, when we focus our thought we can in turn prepare a plan for focused action.

Remember that plans change. If you do not have a plan right now, know that you are not alone!
I am still creating mine:-)

Make it a great day and make a plan!

Love,

Stephen

Blog 12/365 ThinkTankThursday ~ The Next Generation!

Think Tank Thursday ~ TTT ~ Triple T!

Over the next four weeks I am going to do a series called Think Tank Thursdays! Every Thursday our post will revolve around a thought tantalizing topic. The Thursday Think Tank Topic will come from an external source and I invite you to share your opinion...you know I will certainly share mine:-)

TTT#1 ~ The Next Generation

It's time for our generation to step-up!

Todays' topic was inspired after reading the following excerpt from "Hot, Flat, and Crowded" ~ Thomas L. Friedman

"I have always believed," said Jeff Immelt, "that every generation looks back at the generation before it and has one big question about something they did or did not do. For our generation, the big question to the generation before us was 'How could good people be so prejudiced against blacks or women?' I am convinced that when our kids are fifty, and they look back at us, they are going to ask us:'What were you thinking? You were the richest country in the world. You had the technology to really make a difference on things like global warming. Why were you so slow to do the right things?' The are going to say, 'Gosh, what were you doing?'"
Friends..."What do you want younger generations to say about you?"

"Every two weeks China opens coal-fired power plats big enough to serve all the households of Minneapolis!" Polluting Power! Now if you can tell me that in your gut, you do not feel something is wrong with that...I may just call you an XXX<-insert not nice word here! From extraction, to burning, to piling the waste...there is nothing clean about coal! In my books "Clean Coal" ties with "Smart Idiot" as the most oxymoronic phrases ever! It is time to start living in a sustainable manner->Read this blog for proof!

Again I ask...."What do you want younger generations to say?"

I want younger generations to say..."Thank you for the sustainable future you have left us. Thank you for your example. Thank you for taking a proactive role in stewarding the planet and protecting the biodiversity that surrounds us. Thank you for caring about us! You guys F&*^ing Rock!"

So lets step up! Yes, lets work toward our wants. Yes, lets do it in services of others. Yes, lets develop a sustainable global future! Yes, lets do it now! What do you think this Thursday? ;-)

Make it a great day!
Sending love,

Suchie

Blog 11/365 I bet on me!

I have come to view my life in 3 phases thus far....

Phases 1 ~ "should do"
Beginning in my formative years and continuing through University...I did what other people told me I "should do"... Partially in fear, partially in comfort, and partially due to lack of desire. They said "do this" -> "get that" -> and you will be happy! After graduating I realized...I had never really done what I truly wanted! Hello phase 2:-)
Phases 2 ~ "I want....hmmmm....experiences!"
After turning down a "dream job" in the eyes of many...I was 21 and it was time to backpack Europe! Then I was 22 and it was time to ride...aka hello 2 seasons in Breckenridge, Colorado!!! Then I was 24 and it was time to teach some English and learn some Spanish...I LOVE BARCELONA! Quarter life crises or off to lead guided tours across the US and Canada...hmmmm....here is an ode to TrekAmerica, the 45 states it took me to, the amazing people it brought into my life, and the countless memories. Time for South America...Buenas Aries, Iguazu Falls, BUS RIDES, a flooded Machu Picchu, an early flight home, more amazing experiences with people I will never forget and all of a sudden I was driving to Canada. 26 and starting a company...trying to set up a sustainable business while trusting and relying on others in a market stimulated bye a government incentive = learning experience. I wanted awesome experiences...I got awesome experiences! A few scars on the heart later...I have life long friends and memories that make me smile at any hour of the day! Ultimately though...where was my purpose? Where was my direction? BOOM, BOOM, POW...initiate Phase 3!

Phases 3 ~ "I bet on me"
I have always been great at dreaming but lacked an action plan. I can tell you what I want but could never tell you how I was going to get there. I could/can adapt to just about any situation...so why worry about the details? XXXXXXXXXX <-insert annoying incorrect buzzer sound here) I want purpose! I want spontaneity and the ability to adapt...but it is time to define! It is time to actively work towards my goals, wants, and desires...in service others while supporting the development of a sustainable global future! For the first time in my life I know what I am working towards...I am identifying wants...I am working on my action plan...I am inspired...I am motivated...I bet on me!

This blog will continue to chronicle our journey! Whether you are along for the ride or want to actively participate...know that you are welcome here. Spread the word and invite others. Lets continue to build a community where we support each other, work towards our wants, support/steward our global community, and develop a sustainable future for all.
All that being said, don't forget Blog 4/365~"No one can take care of you better then you!"

Grow your awareness->Focus your thought->Focus your actions-> Bet on you!

Always living, laughing, learning, and loving!
make it a great day!
